“Black Widow”: Post-credit scene raises questions – Dark Avengers on the rise?
As befits a full-fledged MCU film, “Black Widow” also has a post-credit scene. What can be seen in it and what it means.
With “Black Widow” an MCU film has finally started again. Most recently, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” was shown on the big screens. Then the corona pandemic hit the film industry and incapacitated it for months. So now the big comeback with the story of Natasha Romanoff, who actually died in “Avengers: Endgame”. We have already summarized here that the film itself was not a brilliant idea. But this time we are devoting ourselves to the post-credit scene, which traditionally should not be missing in any MCU production. Warning, spoilers for “Black Widow” will follow.
“Black Widow” – What do you see after the credits?
After a whopping 133 minutes, one can rightly ask oneself whether the film was worth the long wait. While we have already found an answer to this elsewhere, we will only briefly summarize it here: Only the post-credit scene was worth it. What to See: Yelena (Natasha’s stepsister) visits the grave of the late Avengers member when Valentina Allegra de Fontaine joins them. She asks Yelena if she would like to know who was really responsible for Natasha’s death and then shows her a picture of Clint Barton alias Hawkeye. With that the film ends.
What does this scene mean? First of all, we already know Valentina Allegra de Fontaine from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”. Here she was something like the patroness of John Walkier alias US agent. Now she tells Yelena that Barton is responsible for Natasha’s death, which is utter nonsense, as you can see very clearly in “Avengers: Endgame”. Something doesn’t go together.
Are the “Dark Avengers” coming now?
Apparently Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is working on putting together a team whose members have shady pasts. The fact that Walker is still at large after “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” borders on a scandal. Now Yelena is supposed to hunt Hawkeye too. Fontaine’s goal could be to put together the Dark Avengers – a kind of Suicide Squad from the Marvel universe. Bad guys fight as a team against perceived dangers. In the comics they are started by Norman Osborn, but US Agent is one of them. With Yelena, Fontaine already had two members, and more could follow.
How exactly the new Black Widow changes to the side of the bad guys (if at all), we’ll probably see in the series “Hawkeye”, which is due to start on Disney + later this year. Clint Barton will find a successor in it, but will apparently also meet Yelena. The trailer for “Black Widow” is above.
