death makes you old, but makes you stronger

Sifu’s aging mechanism is revealed in video.

Sifu from the Parisian studio Sloclap or the art of getting up after a defeat with a few wrinkles on the face. Like the old masters of cult kung fu movies, as the main character gets older he gains more and more experience, skills and knowledge that he can apply in battle to defend himself and defeat his enemies. However, if the main character gets too old after several deaths, players will have to start over from the very beginning. They can therefore make mistakes, try again and learn from this process.

Sloclap postpones the release of Sifu

Announced for the end of the year, Sifu will finally be released in 2022 on PS5, PS4 and PC: “The COVID-19 crisis and the lockdowns that followed have been a huge challenge for all of us, and while we have been fortunate enough not to face the significant loss of revenue that many businesses have suffered, the situation has us posed a lot of difficulty. Since March 2020, we have had to adapt to changes in regulations. The whole team went into telecommuting as we continued development and we suffered a slowdown. Telecommuting has its advantages, but it was not easy to stop interacting with other team members on a daily basis. At the start of the year, we still thought we could keep our original launch date, but D-Day was approaching and we realized that this would only be possible by risking the quality of the game or put a lot of pressure on the team, and neither of those two options seemed acceptable to us. We are very sorry for this delay. Being players ourselves, we know how frustrating it can be. As an independent studio, we spend several years on our projects and such a delay can create financial risks, so this is not a decision we have taken lightly. In the end, our priority is to design the experience as entertaining and polished as possible, and we prefer to ask our fans to wait a little longer than expected rather than releasing a game that we are not totally proud of.
