Deodorants with questionable ingredients: Dove, Rexona, L’Oréal and others fail
Aluminum in deodorants is considered controversial today. ÖKO-TEST has therefore tested 52 roll-on deodorants for ingredients and effectiveness that do without the harmful antiperspirant. The result: you should stay away from some branded products, for example from Dove, Rexona and Vichy.
After ÖKO-TEST recently took a closer look at deodorant sprays, it is now the turn of deodorant rollers without aluminum. A total of 52 products are tested in the laboratory for harmful ingredients in the deodorant and bottle. There are deductions in the rating if questionable ingredients are detected or, for example, the promised duration of action is not adhered to.
Among the tested deodorant rollers are inexpensive discounters and own brands as well as more expensive natural cosmetic products. All price categories are represented here between 49 cents and 10.50 euros for 50 milliliters of deodorant.
Dove, Rexona, L’Oréal and Vichy: you should keep your hands off these deodorant rollers
In some of the products tested, PEG / PEG derivatives, plastic compounds, organohalogen compounds or formaldehyde / releasing agents could be detected. The critical substances can influence the fearfulness, accumulate in the fatty tissue of the body, cause skin irritation and promote allergies.
As a result, a total of four products only scored “unsatisfactory” (grade 6). In addition, the manufacturers cannot present any studies on the effectiveness of the deodorants. So you better keep your hands off these deodorant rollers:
- Dove 0% Aluminium Salts Deodorant Moisturising Cream
- L’Oreal Mixa 48h effectiveness against odor
- rexona Flower Fresh Quick Dry Extra Fresh 48h Deodorant
- Vichy Mineral Deodorant 48H
Especially that Vichy-Deo disappointed: This is not just a pharmacy product, it is also the most expensive deodorant in the test with a price of over 10 euros for 50 milliliters.
Which products also contain questionable ingredients, read for a fee in the detailed test at ÖKO-TEST. In the following you can read about which deodorants you do not have to worry about.
