Dog owners, watch out: That means a yellow bow on the collar or leash
Have you noticed that when you go for a walk? Sometimes other dogs have a yellow bow or a yellow scarf on their collar or leash. The accessory is intended to send an important signal to other dog owners. We’ll tell you how you should behave in such moments.
Dogs are very social creatures. As a rule, they love to sniff other four-legged friends while going for a walk, to play with them and to run. But there are situations where the owner wants to prevent strange dogs from approaching their darling. Maybe he is sick, anxious, maybe he reacts irritably or should learn in training not to rush straight into every strange dog.
Yellow ribbon means: “Keep your distance”
For this reason, dog owners use a yellow bow or a yellow scarf to show: “Please keep your distance with your dog!” The idea comes from Sweden and is called there “Gulahund” (in German: Yellow Dog).
There is then no longer any need to explain why you don’t want to go for a walk. Even if your bitch is in heat, a yellow ribbon can be very useful and prevent awkward discussions.
