From AMD and Nvidia: Cheap graphics card alternatives presented
AMD and Nvidia presented new graphics cards at CES 2022. These are aimed primarily at gamers who are looking for a bugdet solution for their own PC.
At CES 2022, both Nvidia and AMD presented a new ray tracing graphics card for the lower price range, which should enable at least 1080p ray tracing. The Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 has an RRP of 279 EUR and the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT has a recommended retail price of around 200 USD.
The RTX 3050 uses a video memory of 8 GB GDDR6 with a 128 bit memory interface. It has 2,560 FP32-ALUs, 80 TMUs and a boost clock of 1.777 GHz. This means around 30 percent fewer computing units and an identical boost clock as a Geforce RTX 3060. Nvidia DLSS is supported as well as 2nd generation ray tracing. The power limit of the graphics card is 130 W, which is around 25 percent lower than that of the Geforce RTX 3060. Like the RTX 3060, it still requires an 8-pin PCIe connector because the PCIe slot only provides a maximum of 75 watts can be.
AMD also shows a Buget card
With a 128-bit connection, the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT has only 4 GB of GDDR6 video memory plus 16 MB of Infinity Cache. It has a slightly low power limit of 107 watts, which is 19 percent lower than with the RX 6600. Just like the Nvidia card, a PCIe 8-pin connector must be connected from the power supply unit. At 2.815 GHz, the boost clock is around 13 percent higher than that of the RX 6600 and thus higher than any other RX 6000 graphics card from AMD. The RX 6500 XT has only 1,024 FP32-ALUs with 16 CUs and thus exactly half of an RX 6600 XT.
AMD plans to release the RX 6500 XT on January 19, 2022 and Nvidia the RTX 3050 on January 27, 2022.
