Whether Milka, Ritter Sport or Lindt: Chocolate is available from many well-known brands and in a wide variety of flavors. But which chocolate is actually the best? Stiftung Warentest took a closer look at the candy. The results hold some surprises; in fact, neither Lindt, Milka nor Ritter Sport landed in first place.
Whether dark, white, with nuts or just sweet: many people value chocolate as a sinful delicacy. Reaching the candy shelf is usually based on the motto: What you know ends up in the shopping cart. But there are many delicious and equally cheap chocolate alternatives like this one hidden on the shelf great test from Stiftung Warentest shows.
The experts examined a total of 24 bars of chocolate. Attention was paid to the taste, appearance and consistency of the chocolate. The chocolates have also been tested for germs, bacteria and harmful substances in the laboratory. Lo and behold: branded products are not always the best.
Because in addition to the top dogs Milka, Ritter Sport or Lindt, there are lesser-known manufacturers who are even ahead of the chocolate sizes in terms of taste. Chocolate: expensive is not always good
At the other end of the spectrum is the most expensive chocolate, which also does the worst in the test. But not just because of the price. In the laboratory it was found that the chocolate is contaminated with nickel. This often happens when the cocoa plant ingests the metal through the water and soil. This is not harmful to the health of the consumer, but gives the product a few negative points.
