After smartphones, headphones and smartwatches, what if OnePlus wanted to tackle the tablet market?
OnePlus has made a name for itself in the smartphone market by offering devices with an unbeatable price / quality ratio, or almost. Today, eight years after the creation of the company, the situation has changed a lot. The Chinese brand’s mobiles are present in different segments and above all, it only makes smartphones. OnePlus could also soon launch on the tablet market.
What if OnePlus enters the tablet market?
OnePlus has made a name for itself by offering smartphones that are extremely interesting in their quality / price ratio. The company later expanded its catalog with headphones and most recently a smartwatch. The next step would it be the tablet? If we are to believe a recent trademark registration, this would be the case.
This is what a recent trademark registration suggests
Indeed, according to an article in MySmartPrice, a file filed with the European Union Office for Intellectual Property by OnePlus concerns a device called “OnePlus Pad”. And if with that name it isn’t a tablet, it’s hard to imagine what else it could be, at least when it comes to electronics.
Other than that name, we don’t know anything about this mysterious device. This is the very first mention of this kind, which would confirm the brand’s ambitions for the tablet market. And the information is very interesting insofar as, if we had to summarize, this market is currently dominated by Apple. Samsung has had some success with its own line, but when it comes to tablets today, almost everyone immediately thinks of the Apple iPad.
It’s hard to imagine what OnePlus could come to change with this fact but it will be interesting to see them try, at the very least. After all, the brand has managed to carve out a niche in a market where many competitors have failed. Maybe she will. To be continued !
