Pick your own fruit: ingenious map shows trees
Now in summer there is delicious fresh fruit everywhere. The best thing about it? You don’t even have to pay for it. In Germany there are fruit trees, shrubs and herbs growing in the wild almost everywhere. With the interactive map of Mundraub you can see where you can find fresh raspberries, cherries, apples and much more in your area and easily take them with you.

In Germany there are millions of fruit trees that bear delicious fruit – and not all of them are privately owned. These include cherry trees that have been planted along streets or apple trees that are supposed to make parks more beautiful. Berry bushes can also be found in many different places, for example wild blueberries or strawberries in the forest. But only a few people know exactly where.
It is precisely this location information that is shared by the network’s enthusiasts mundraub.org with all members. This creates a detailed, interactive map that shows many wild plants that every fruit and vegetable fan can pick. Those who take part in this campaign are also making a contribution to the environment, because they do without plastic-wrapped fruit from the discounter.
In the interactive map tens of thousands of sites are registered. If you zoom in on a location using the map, you can see exactly what kind of plant it is by means of a pictogram. A distinction is made between fruit trees, bushes, herbs and nuts. A click on the respective location opens a short description, often including photos. In addition to finding healthy treats, the social aspect of mouth robbery is also exciting. The online platform aims to bring people together and experience nature together through harvest, planting and care activities as well as discovery tours. In Berlin, for example, so-called birth trees are planted from time to time. This is a fruit tree that is planted on the occasion of a birth and in consultation with the authorities, including a plaque with the name of the child. However, those who use the card should make sure that they treat nature with care. Be careful not to trample plants and only harvest as much as you really need. And if a registered tree is privately owned, you should refrain from harvesting it or at least ask beforehand.
