Messenger giant WhatsApp recently rolled out a new feature that allows the app to be used on multiple devices. However, users are currently complaining that the function leads to an annoying problem in many cases.
For some time now, WhatsApp has been able to be used on up to five devices at the same time. This even works if the main device, i.e. the smartphone, is offline or defective. The feature has already been activated for some users in the past few weeks, others will follow soon.
Like WABetaInfo now reported, the new feature leads to an annoying problem for some users with the latest WhatsApp version: As a result, the chats and data of the connected devices are no longer correctly synchronized after the installation of the new updates. Images, videos and chat histories can therefore not be fully displayed on some of the devices.
WhatsApp’s multi-device problem: Developers apparently already have a solution up their sleeves
Good for affected users: WhatsApp is apparently already rolling out a fix for the problem. The connected end devices are logged out, which is supposed to fix the synchronization problems. According to WABetaInfo, this is currently only being rolled out for the Android beta. However, there are also clear indications that the iOS beta will also soon be equipped with the fix.
If you were automatically logged out by WhatsApp on one of your devices, you can log in again in the settings via the item “Connected devices” using a QR code.
WhatsApp recently announced that users can look forward to a practical innovation in the “Self-erasing messages” feature. More on this find out here.
