TikTok is expanding its reach with new features who are studying and introducing videos of longer duration. One of the last things that might have been expected, however, was his entry into the business job search.

The popular teen app now allows users in the US to apply for job positions of various levels, creating a presentation video resume and tagging it using the hashtag #TikTokResumes.

The initiative is part of a pilot program that runs until July 31 and currently has around three dozen participating companies, including Target and Chipotle, as well as media companies, such as Meredith Corporation, Attn and PopSugar. Also noteworthy is the presence of open positions to work with the Detroit Pistons NBA team and with the wwe, the most famous American wrestling federation.

The program can be found on the website tiktokresumes.com which also contains some application tips and sample videos. On this site you can browse the job advertisements by employer and fill out a short questionnaire, attaching the link to your video. The videos will need to be public.

#CareerTok is already a thriving subculture on the platform and we can’t wait to see how the community will embrace TikTok Resumes and help reimagine recruiting and job discovery. “, said Nick Tran, TikTok’s Global Head of Marketing.

From what we read on its website, the company wants to help “Members of our community who are looking for job opportunities”, encouraging users “To turn their traditional paper resume into a curriculum video digital or in an elevator pitch “.

For now it is a temporary project, but from the users’ response it will be understood if TikTok has a future even as a younger and more innovative competitor of a social network such as LinkedIn.
