WhatsApp offers so many functions that many features are literally lost. We will introduce you to some of WhatsApp’s functions that can make it easier for you to use the popular messenger. In the video we also show you some tips that can make you a WhatsApp expert.
WhatsApp is updated regularly via updates and new functions are added again and again. We have selected a few features that not every messenger user is familiar with: from a start-stop function for voice messages to the subsequent deletion of messages and images that have been sent to the ability to create GIFs from your own videos at lightning speed. The presented tricks are both for Android as well as for iOS users from WhatsApp exciting.
WhatsApp voice messages: The start-stop feature
Please send longer ones Voice messages on WhatsApp, then the constant pressing of buttons is very annoying in the long run. WhatsApp reacted here and built a start-stop function. If you swipe up to start the voice message, you can fix the microphone. Now you can take your finger off and finally just click once more to send your voice message.
Delete sent WhatsApp messages afterwards
If you have sent a text, a picture, a video or something else in WhatsApp that you would rather take back quickly, you can now do so. To do this, you simply have to select what has been sent with a long click and delete it. The recipient then only sees the information: “This message has been deleted”.
Unfortunately, if the recipient has already read the message or downloaded the video or photo, there is nothing you can do about it.
WhatsApp features for groups
You can also make various settings for groups. In the menu of the group – click on the name in the chat above – you have the item “Group settings”. There you can now set who can edit the picture and the group information, you can downgrade admins and promote members and even specify that only admins are allowed to write messages.
Reply directly to messages and special writing styles
This function is particularly useful in groups where there is a lot of writing. If you would like to comment on a specific message, you can select it and reply to it. If you swipe right over the desired message, it will open above the text field and you can write a comment.
Not a new feature, but still unknown to many, is the function of writing in bold, italic or crossed out. You can either put * asterisk * in front of and behind a bold text, _underlines_ for italic texts and ~ tilden ~ for messages with a line through it. Alternatively, you can also select the message and select the desired formation under the three dots on Android or under the arrow on iOS.
Create GIFs and find emojis faster
Short videos in particular are usually more popular than GIFs; they also save a little data volume. To do this, select the camera symbol and start filming on it. Before sending, you can now select the GIF symbol at the top right and WhatsApp will automatically convert your creation into a GIF that runs in a loop.
The WhatsApp emoji search is especially useful if you want to send a very special one, but cannot find it at all. At the bottom left of the emoji menu you will find a magnifying glass, where you can now use search terms to find the right smiley. The same goes for pre-installed GIFs.

Save broadcast messages, texts separately and mark chats as unread
If you want to send your own message to several contacts without having to use the group function, you can now create broadcasts. In the menu under “New Broadcast”, select the desired contacts and send your message individually to the recipients.
You can save special texts with the asterisk function. You have to click on the desired message for a long time until it turns blue. At the top you will then see the star in the options. If you click on it, this message is saved in the menu under “Starred”.
You can mark the chat as unread so that a message that you have already read but will not want to reply to for a while is not lost. If you stay longer on the chat with your finger, the menu opens. Under the three points you will find the “Mark as unread” function. Now the chat has a green dot on the right edge and shows up as unread.
Desktop version of WhatsApp
You can also use WhatsApp as a desktop tool on your computer. Download yourself for it WhatsApp for the PC and connect your smartphone to the program. Now you can use the chat program as you would on your mobile device. The only condition: your cell phone must be switched on and connected to the Internet.
Extra: The web app warns you when the battery on your smartphone is low.
