WhatsApp wants to increase the quality of photos on its platform

WhatsApp wants to increase the quality of the photos exchanged by offering various quality options.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging services around today. And the platform now allows you to do more than just chat with one or more relatives. In particular, it is possible to exchange media, and photo quality should increase soon.

One of the concerns with WhatsApp is the compression set up for photos. You may have already realized this. It doesn’t matter whether the photos on your phone are in high quality or not, once sent to WhatsApp, they lose a lot of detail and sharpness. And sometimes you even end up not liking the photo you just sent.

by offering various quality options

As said before, this is due to the compression applied by WhatsApp, most likely to speed up processing times and minimize the impact on server storage. That being said, there is good news on this front. Indeed, according to WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp would allow users to choose the quality of the photos sent.

And if that sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because, before that, this same blog had discovered signs suggesting similar treatment to videos sent via WhatsApp. It is therefore not surprising to learn that photos are entitled to it too. Users could choose between Auto, Best Quality, or Data Saving.

This last option would allow sending photos as currently, most likely. Better Quality, on the other hand, is quite ambiguous. Does this mean that the file will not be compressed at all or that minimal compression will be applied? Anyway, this novelty should be very useful on a daily basis. For connections as for the eyes.
