After being launched in the United States last March, YouTube Shorts will be rolled out to all users in France starting this week.
Official launch of the YouTube Shorts service in France
YouTube announces the international deployment of the beta version of Shorts. The service is deployed in more than 100 countries (Europe, Middle East, Africa, etc.). Regarding France, YouTube Shorts will be available to all users by July 14.
This tool allows creators to design impactful short videos via mobile. The objective: to compete more seriously with the rise of TikTok and its short video format or even Instagram with the Reels. Many designers use Shorts to express themselves on YouTube like Bobby Moore Facts or Adventures and Naps.
First launched in India, then in the United States, the United Kingdom and some Latin American countries, YouTube Shorts is already enjoying some success, exceeding 6.5 billion daily views worldwide.
New options for Shorts users
YouTube already offers basic creation tools for Shorts that allow, for example, to combine video clips, to record a video with music, or to modify the speed settings …
The service is taking advantage of this deployment to launch new options. You will be able :
- resume audio clips from YouTube videos (an option named Remix),
- add text on specific moments of a video,
- add automatic subtitles,
- record up to 60 seconds of video with the Shorts camera,
- add videos from your phone’s gallery to recordings made with the Shorts camera,
- add basic filters to correct the color of the Shorts …
A large music library available
Creators will be able to benefit from millions of songs from music catalogs of more than 250 labels and publishers around the world, such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Music Publishing, Warner Music Group or Warner Chappell Music. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to entice the creators of TikTok to make Shorts on YouTube.
